HISTORY OF KPM BERANANG

MARA Professional College Beranang (KPMB) was formerly known as MARA Institute of Commerce(IPM), which was established on may 1977. Its first rented premise was at the second floor of Bangunan Sing Hoe Motor, Jalan Ipoh,Kuala Lumpur. At that time,it had an enrollement of 100 students and 4 lecturers. In August 1982, it moved to a new building at Bandar Tun Abdul Razak, Cheras. This new building had hostel facilities, which accommodated 400 students. 

In 1982, IPM was placed under MARA Secondary Education Division (BPM). Later in 1984, MARA Commercial Education Division was formed and IPM was put under this new wing.

Following the relocation of MARA Headquarters to its new building in February 1986,IPM occupied the vacated floor in the MARA old building at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. In February 1993, IPM rented a new premise at Wisma Sachdev and Wisma Thakurdas, which are located at Jalan Raja Laut,Kuala Lumpur.

Finally, in June 1998, KPM moved to its permanent twenty five-acre-campus located at Lot 2333, Jalan Seremban/Kajang, 43700 Beranang,Selangor. In April 1999, MARA Institute of Commerce (IPM) changed its name to MARA Professional College (KPM) in line with MARA vision of catering the need of professional courses by the year of 2005.

Initially, programmes based on syllabuses of London Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) were offered. Beside LCCI programmes, a wide range of programmes such as Matriculation ICSA, Tourist Guide, Certificate in Reservation & Ticketing and Certificate of Company Secretaryship were introduced in late 1980's until 1990's.

In June 1999,  KPM Beranang run its first own study programmes with an enrollment of 56 students for Diploma in Accountancy programme and 84 students of Diploma in Business Studies programme.

KPM Beranang has added another new programme in October 1999, which is Higher National Diploma in Computing (Busines Information Technology). This ia a franchised programme from Edexcel Foundation formely known as Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) of United Kingdom. This programme attracts many students due to the rapid expand of computer usage nowadays.

In June 2005, KPM Beranang has offered Diploma in Agro Busines with its first intake of 40 students. And now there are more han 200 students pursuing the programme.

At Present, KPM Beranang offers four full time programmes and these programmes got their accreditation from Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). The Programme are,

• Diploma in Accountancy
• Diploma in Business Studies
• Higher National Diploma in Computing (Software Development)
• Diploma in Agro Business

HISTORY OF AGRIBUSINESS COURSE

Diploma in Agrobusiness at KPM Beranang has been establish since 2005. The course is offered to students who wants to gain knowledge about agriculture, business and landscape. Since the establishment of this course, it received a lot of attention from students especially SPM school leavers to pursue their studies in this course.

Students taking this course are able to experience a lot of hands on work and field work thus enhancing their knowledge. The subjects that the students have to take when enrolled to this course are Horticulture Pest Management, Post Harvest Management, Agrobusiness Management and Marketing, Landscape Construction and Engineering and Lanscape Design Studio.
